4 Critical Questions that all EHS Collaborative Teams will continually pursue through collective inquiry :

  1. What are students supposed to know and be able to do?
  2. How do we know when our students have learned?
  3. How do we respond when students have not learned the essential standard?
  4. How do we respond when students already know the content?

EHS Instructional Points of Emphasis:

  1. Collaborative lesson planning which incorporates research-based instructional strategies utilized in a relevant, innovative context.
  2. Culturally responsive teaching that makes meaningful connections between what students learn in school and their cultures, languages, and life experiences.
  3. Ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum.  Display and reference essential learning objectives in the classroom which drive instruction and assessment.
  4. Pose deep probing questioning (HOW & WHY)  with wait time and follow-up questioning which requires students to consider, articulate, and justify their understanding
  5. Provide a balance of teacher-centered and student-centered learning experiences from “bell to bell.”
  6. Daily summarizing by students and teacher (Never leave a learning experience without providing students with an opportunity to summarize their understanding)
