Greetings from Principal Jeff Cher

Picture of Jeff CherIt’s a Great Day to be an EAGLE!  Our mission is excellence for all students through strong relationships and instructional strategies delivered by effective educators.  This school year, we welcome everyone to continue the tradition of EAGLE PRIDE that has distinguished Eastside High School.  Our students and staff have devoted themselves to excellence in all endeavors as recognized by numerous accolades throughout the years.  Contributing and continuing this legacy EXCELLENCE and EAGLE PRIDE entails a daily investment of yourself towards positive growth to reach your fullest potential.  There is no such thing as an unimportant person or an unimportant day!

At Eastside, we are fully committed towards accomplishing the mission of the Newton County School System (NCSS) for providing educational excellence for all students.  As such, we commit to maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff each day.  Additionally, we will deliver high quality instruction by utilizing research-based instructional strategies during lessons, building a foundation of background knowledge for our students throughout the school day, and by providing greater integration of technology in classrooms.

At Eastside High School, teachers focus upon student learning, collaboration with collective responsibility for outcomes and student results.  Answers must be provided for these questions in order for us to meet our goals:

•   What essential content do we want students to know, do, and understand?
•   How do we that students have mastered essential content?
•   How do we respond when students do not master essential content?
•   How do we respond when students have mastered essential content?

As the educational landscape continues to change, we are committed to provide a safe, meaningful learning environment at EHS.  For our graduates to be competitive in any endeavor after graduation, we realize the importance of providing a rigorous and relevant education that equips students with the skills and knowledge to be successful.  We encourage our students to participate in the full high school experience by taking advantage of all available resources at Eastside to support their academic, athletic, and artistic performances.  Also, parents and community members are invited to invest themselves in the education process as we continue to grow Eastside High School as a treasured and vital component to the community of Newton County.

I am excited about the future opportunities available to our students who are challenged to continue the legacy established by previous graduates as “EASTSIDE GRADUATES EXCELLENCE!”

Sincerely,

Jeff Cher
Principal, Eastside High School
